Car Seat Legislation

On the 18 September 2006 the Department for Transport introduced a new law which states that children up to and under 135cm should be restrained in the car with either a car seat or booster seat. Children under this height are not protected efficiently using the seat belt alone.

We would always recommend the use of a high back booster seat. These seats not only ensure the seat belt is fitted safely over the child, but also offer the reassurance of side impact protection. We would also recommend that a child continue to use a car seat until they reach 150cm in height for extra security.
